Li Chong is a fictional character in the popular BBC soap opera EastEnders. She is played by Elaine Tan. She made her first appearance on 16 November 2006, and will appear in the programme at least until April 2007, with a prospect of having her contract extended.[1]
Her appearance was officially announced on 21 October 2006, but the character was seen on a storyboard in a backstage picture in First magazine in the week before the announcement.
She was first seen in Walford Videos, where she sold Cantonese DVDs to Mickey Miller. She continued doing business with Mickey, and attracted the attention of Mickey's teenage brother Darren, who told her that Mickey wanted to cook dinner for her, when in fact Darren wanted to seduce her. Li tied Darren to his bed, writing "Loser" on his head in lipstick. After that she got together with Mickey, who seems scared of her "sex madness".[2]
She was later seen at Tanya Branning's birthday party, and exposed rival to Mickey's affections, Preeti, who had enhanced her breasts with padding. She later borrowed £200 from Darren and provided stock for Preeti's Ann Summers-style party. Li failed to sell any stock, and ended up fighting with Chelsea.
