Contents

[edit] Background

Stacey arrived in Albert Square to live with her extended family after her mum Jean told her that she was the worst mistake of her life, and that she couldn't bear the fact knowing her own daughter was breathing the same air as her. Her father Brian had died while working on a construction site and she also has an estranged older brother Sean whose whereabouts were at the time unknown.

Stacey has always appeared to be tough, stubborn, and bitchy, but her inside hides a lonely, desperate girl reaching out for love. She has stolen from people willing to employ her, and has also pretended that a local mugger robbed several hundreds of pounds from her as she was delivering it to the bank for her bosses, Patrick and Yolande Trueman, as she secretly kept and spent the cash. She was later mugged for real, but saved by Johnny Allen, the father of her best friend Ruby.

[edit] Zoe and Chrissie's alibi

One of her biggest storylines came in the form of the demise of 'Dirty' Den Watts. When his body was uncovered from the cellar of The Queen Victoria pub some six months or so after his death, Stacey, being a true Slater (sticking by her family through thick and thin), provided an alibi for her second cousin Zoe and Chrissie Watts (Den's widow and killer) after she threatened to drag Zoe into the mess if she refused to give them both an alibi (so Sam Hunter would get sent down for the crime).

They kept quiet for a few months until Chrissie was finally arrested for the murder after a tape of her confession got into the hands of the police.

[edit] Jean's mental illness

Stacey then temporarily returned to live with her mother Jean in December 2005. Her mother's mental illness deterioated after she had a mental breakdown and blockaded herself in her house. Stacey tried to look after her but after she tried to kill herself Jean was taken into a mental hospital and Stacey returned home.

[edit] Stacey and Bradley

When Jim Branning's grandson Bradley arrived on January 24, 2006, he and Stacey went to the Scarlet Nightclub along with Deano Wicks. Deano wanted Stacey to lighten up as she was in a bad mood so he spiked her drink with a drug. On her way home on her own from the club, Stacey collapsed on the street. Deano and Bradley found her and Deano went to get some blankets to keep her warm. When Bradley picked Stacey up and put her on a bench, she woke up and hit Bradley who she thought was attacking her. She got Bradley arrested. Deano eventually confessed he had actually spiked the drink and Stacey slapped him. Bradley was eventually released and he and Stacey became friends which later developed into a romance when Bradley promised to be a static support in her life.

Bradley attempted to have sex with Stacey in an alley. Stacey was less than impressed, and stormed off shouting "What are you going to do, bend me over the bins?". However they later apologised to one another, and have resumed a relationship. They pledged to wait before starting a physical relationship. On 22 June, they had sex for the first time. Although it was initially Bradley who was nervous, Stacey ended up suffering from nerves too. The pair spoke about their worries together before deciding to take the plunge.

Bradley told his grandfather that he had slept with Stacey, and Jim who was so proud he told Jake Moon, Deano, Martin Fowler and others in The Queen Vic. Stacey then walked in and assumed Bradley was boasting about it so she walked out and refused to answer the door when he came to see her. They did make up though after she revealed she didn't care who knew. Stacey also told Bradley that she loved him. In August 2006, Stacey discovered she was pregnant after coming back from a holiday, and also saw her long-lost brother, Sean, in The Vic. Sean and Stacey were reunited and Stacey subsequently confided that she was pregnant with Bradley's baby. After much persuasion from Bradley, Stacey decided to have an abortion, telling friends and family that she had had a miscarriage.

[edit] Sean's scheme

In November, Stacey guessed that her brother Sean is only engaged to her friend Ruby for her money. She told him that she would not stand by and let her best friend have her life ruined by him. Stacey told Ruby that Sean slept with Preeti Choraria, but Ruby forgave him. She was angered when Ruby told her mum that Sean was back. Eventually Sean finished his relationship with Ruby by throwing her dad's ashes at her, after he decided not to leave his sister and Walford. Stacey watched in shock but returned silently into the house with Sean, Ruby left Walford in the back of a cab. Stacey tried to phone Ruby the next day but could not get through to her. She realised that Ruby was not her friend, especially when she tried to take her own brother away from her. She, Sean and Bradley were forced to leave the house when it was put up for sale by Ruby. She along with Sean moved back in with Charlie.

[edit] After Bradley

Bradley did not invite Stacey to his company's Christmas party, telling her that he couldn't take a guest. A furious Stacey then found his invitation and went to the party anyway. She embarrassed him and Bradley told his friends that she wasn't his girlfriend. Bradley flirted a lot with a colleague, Lydia Asler, and ended his relationship with Stacey.

The next day, Bradley's father Max tried to encourage Bradley to take Stacey back (even after she smashed his car's windscreen) but Bradley refused. Stacey tried to seduce Max, and eventually he kissed her, despite then breaking away and going home. Stacey told Max that she knew he'd be back, because he wouldn't be able to resist it.

On Christmas Day, Jean joined the Slaters for a family dinner (excluding Sean, who went to Egypt after finding out that his mother was coming for dinner). The Slaters went to The Queen Vic where Jean saw Bradley and joined him for a drink. When Stacey saw this she ended up shouting at Bradley and embrassing herself in front of everyone. Max escorted her out the pub and to her home. She again began to flirt with Max and they ended up sleeping together. Stacey at first threatened to tell everything to Max's wife Tanya but Max told her to keep quiet. She went back to the pub and apologised to Peggy for her behaviour. Max indicated after that he was willing to carry on their affair.

When Sean returned from Egypt, Stacey and Max's affair was almost found out when Max left his tie in Stacey's house.

Stacey and Max were kissing in the toilets of The Queen Vic, when he was supposed to be picking up his daughter Abi from school. He did not turn up so she made her own way home, resulting in her being hit by a car driven by Deano Wicks.

Bradley has now realised that he still loves Stacey and shouted outside her window that he loved her. But Stacey told Bradley to go home as she didn't love him anymore, he was unaware of the fact that she was in bed with Max.

On Tanya's birthday, Stacey got into an argument with Max, in the argument she revealed that the only reason she slept with him was because she wanted to get back at Bradley for going out with Lydia. She then accidentally admitted her feelings, saying that she didn't know she was going to fall in love with Max.
