The 41st Miss World Pageant was held on December 28, 1991 in World Conference Center, Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The winner was Ninibeth Beatriz Leal Rodrgiuez (Queen of Americas) from the Venezuela. Runner up was Leanne Buckle (Queen of Asia & Oceania) representing Australia and third was Diana Tilden-Davis (Queen of Africa) from South Africa.

- Miss World 1991 was scheduled to be held in the Dominican Republic. Due to scheduling difficulties, Miss World was first moved to Puerto Rico, then to Atlanta, USA.
- Twelve out of 78 contestants competed in Miss Universe.
- Belize, France, and Paraguay competed in Miss Universe 1991 which was held in Las Vegas. Paraguay failed to make into the Top 10 in Miss World. France, on the other hand, made into semi-finals in both Miss Universe and Miss World at the same year.
- Belgium, Cayman Islands, Iceland, Namibia, New Zealand, and Switzerland competed in Miss Universe 1992 which was held in Bangkok. Namibia who placed fifth in Miss World, won Miss Universe 1992, while New Zealand made into the semi-finals in Miss World 1991, as well as Miss Universe 1992. Belgium, who failed to make into the semi-finals, became the finalist in Miss Universe in that year.
- El Salvador and Jamaica competed in Miss Universe 1989, while Ghana in Miss Universe 1993. Jamaica previously made into the semi-finals in Miss Universe 1989, before she placed fourth in Miss World two years later.
- Preliminary swimsuits in Miss World 1991 were held in South Africa.
- South Africa returned to Miss World after a 14-year post-apartheid rule, and was the first time to crown as Queen of Africa.
- Greenland competed in Miss World for the first time.
- This was also the first time that no European country made into the finals for crowning.
- Canada, Tara Paat withdrew from Miss World 1991 14 days before the pageant due to her illness.
