My-Otome (舞-乙HiME Mai-Otome?) is an anime created by Sunrise, Inc. It originally premiered on TV Tokyo from October 6, 2005 to March 30, 2006. The show is an alternate universe to My-HiME. My-Otome uses characters from My-HiME, but changes their roles and backgrounds to suit the new storyline. The series was originally announced under the working title "舞☆MAiD" ("Mai Star MAiD"). As with My-HiME, the title is a quirky mix of English/Japanese wordplay, intentionally using an irregular romanization of 舞 (mai) as "My", and 乙HiME also stands for 乙-Type Highly Advanced Materializing Equipment. The manga adaptation follows a different story.
A four episode OVA series entitled My-Otome Zwei (舞-乙HiME Zwei?)[1][2] is in development. The first episode was released on November 24 2006 while the second episode was released on February 23, 2007.
A spin-off manga titled My-Otome Saga Ryuu to Otome no Namida (舞-乙HiME列伝(マイオトメ・サガ) 竜と乙女の涙 lit. My-Otome Saga The Dragon and the Maiden's Tear?), set 100 years into the past of the My-Otome anime, has been announced and will be serialized in MediaWork's Dengeki G's Magazine. It is accompanied by a novel based on the same premise and characters but with a different title, My-Otome Saga Ayane Kourin ♥ Hen (舞-乙HiME列伝(マイオトメ・サガ) アヤネ降臨♥篇 lit. My-Otome Saga Ayane's Advent ♥ Chapter?), which is being published by Tokuma Shoten under their Tokuma Dual Bunko label. This novel and manga are part of the My-HiME Big Bang Project, a plan to release a large amount of products related to My-HiME and My-Otome in Japan in the year 2007. As of now, only 6 products within this project have been revealed so far. [3]
The series was licensed for North American distribution by Bandai Entertainment, the first volume being release in June.[4]
The plot centers around a training school called Garderobe, in the Windbloom Kingdom. Garderobe specializes in training Otome, who are young girls trained in combat to protect important politicians and members of the nobility.

[edit] Story
In the distant future, mankind has left Earth. On one planet named Earl, some of the "old technology" has survived in the form of nanomachines that allow young female virgins to take the role of Meister (Pronounced Mai-Star) Otomes - bodyguards and warriors that serve the royalty of various kingdoms. However, not everyone is content to allow the old technology to fade away or go so unused, and there are those who seek it for their own ends, both nefarious and benevolent. This is the setting of My-Otome.
Into this volatile situation comes the main character: Arika Yumemiya, a spunky 14-year-old girl who has been raised in the rural countryside by her grandmother. She has come to the Windbloom Kingdom in search of her mother, who is said to have been a legendary Meister Otome. On her arrival to Windbloom, Arika witnesses the Meister Otome Shizuru Viola ("the Graceful Amethyst") in combat against a sinister monster called a Slave, and decides to become an Otome herself. The series follows her progress as a student at Garderobe academy, the machinations of those who seek to overthrow the Windbloom Kingdom, and the ensuing events.
