NewsWatch on Channel 15, popularly known as NewsWatch 15, is a 24-hour regional cable network based in New Orleans, Louisiana. One of the first networks of its kind in the United States, it is jointly owned by Belo Corporation of Dallas, Texas and cable company Cox Communications, a division of Atlanta-based Cox Enterprises. It operates out of the studios of WWL-TV.
NewsWatch 15 began in 1988 as a partnership between WWL and Cox, which serves parts of the Greater New Orleans area south of Lake Pontchartrain, the Greater Baton Rouge area and the Acadiana region of southwestern Louisiana.
Viewed on cable channel 15 in the New Orleans area, the network basically rebroadcasts the latest editions of WWL's "Eyewitness News" on the day a viewer is watching, although it also simulcasts live newscasts as well.
Despite the constant rebroadcasting of its newscasts, WWL has not suffered in its ratings and continues to be the perennial number one station in the Crescent City and one of the highest rated stations in the country. [1]
