[edit] History
Previous leagues the club participated in include the West Midlands League, Midland Football Alliance and Southern League.
The club was formed on 9th September 1902 following the liquidation of another local side, Berwick Rangers. They took over Berwick's fixture list in the Birmingham League for another 36 years.
The club is based at the St George's Lane Ground in Worcester to which it moved in 1905 from another site in the City of Worcester. The club hopes in the imminent future to move to a new stadium possibly on the outskirts of the City on Nunnery Way as allocated in the city's local plan.
After leaving the Birmingham League, Worcester City entered the Southern League and remained there until the formation of the Alliance Premier League (now Football Conference in 1979).
City stayed in the top division of non-league football before suffering relegation in 1984/5 (the club had been top of the league before Christmas).
The manager is Andy Preece and the assistant manager is Andy Morrison. The current playing staff includes former Nottingham Forest full back Des Lyttle who is the current club captain and George Clegg formerly of Manchester United.
Worcester's finest football moment was their FA Cup victory over Liverpool FC (then in the old second division, shortly before the legendary Bill Shankly took over as manager), beating their illustrious opponents 2-1 in 1959. They lost in the 4th round to Sheffield United.
