Henri Lefebvre

Henri Lefebvre (* 16. Juni 1901 in Hagetmau, Landes, Frankreich; † 29. Juni 1991) war ein französischer marxistischer Soziologe, Intellektueller und Philosoph.

Er studierte Philosophie an der Sorbonne in Paris und schloss 1920 sein Studium ab. Von 1930 - 1940 war Lefebvre Professor für Philosophie, 1940 schloss er sich der französischen Résistance an. Von 1944 bis 1949 war er Direktor der Radiodiffusion Française, eine Rundfunkanstalt in Toulouse.

1962 wurde Lefebvre Professor für Soziologie an der Universität von Straßburg.

Lefebvre starb 1991. Er hat ein außerordentlich umfangreiches Werk hinterlassen. In Deutschland wurde seine Kritik des Alltagslebens am bekanntesten.

In ihrem Nachruf schrieb die amerikanische Zeitschrift Radical Philosophy : "der produktivste französische marxistische Intellektuelle starb in der Nacht vom 28. zum 29. Juni 1991, weniger als zwei Wochen nach seinem 90. Geburtstag. Während seiner langen Karriere kam sein Werk mehrmals in Mode und wieder außer Mode. Es hat die Entwicklung nicht nur der Philosophie sondern auch der Soziologie, Geographie, Politikwissenschaft und Literaturwissenschaft beeinflusst." [1]
