বাংলা উইকিপিডিয়া সংক্রান্ত আলোচনা সভায় স্বাগতম।
লক্ষ্য করুন: আলোচনার নতুন বিষয় যোগ করতে চাইলে তা পুরনো বিষয়গুলোর ওপরে যোগ করুন। নতুন বিষয়টি একটি শিরোনাম দিয়ে শুরু করবেন (যেমন, ==নতুন শিরোনাম==)। সবচেয়ে পুরনো আলোচনাগুলো থাকবে সবার নীচে আর সাম্প্রতিক আলোচনাগুলো থাকবে ওপরের দিকে। তবে কোন একটি নির্দিষ্ট বিষয়ে আলোচনার ক্ষেত্রে কোন মন্তব্যের উত্তর-প্রত্যুত্তরগুলো স্বাভাবিকভাবেই নিম্নক্রম অনুসরণ করবে।

উইকিপিডিয়া তে ২-১টি জায়গাতে ব্যবহৃত শব্দে আমি কিছু সংশোধনী প্রস্তাব করতে চাই। উদাহরণঃ Typing Interface এর ইংরেজী SAVE এর বাংলা হিসাবে রক্ষা করুন না লিখে শুধু “সংরক্ষণ” ব্যবহার করলে বোধহয় ভাল হয়। সেইসাথে প্রধান পাতায় নির্ঘণ্ট বানানটি তে ণ ব্যবহার করলে অথবা অন্য কোন প্রতিশব্দ দিলে ভাল হয়। --মেহেদী

let's face it guys, we need it. a repository for good sophisticated looking bangla প্রতিশব্দ, পরিভাষা। let's fix a temp page for that purpose where anyone who finds a good word will deposit it there, this must be done in case of science terminology. let's create some, report the standard one to others, and give the writers a list of synonymous words or the word of choice by popularity among the users. otherwise there is not much point contributing in the science areas, soon we will run into a huge confusion of tongues. when several words have been used for the same purpose, there should be disambiguation pages and proper redirection. let's standardize that. --ইমাম তাশদীদ উল আলম 16:39, ১৭ এপ্রিল ২০০৬ (UTC)

- Hi, if you are using Office XP on Windows XP, it's very easy to write in Bangla in an MS Word document. First, download Microsoft's Bengali Input Method Editor (IME) from here and follow the instructions on how to set up and use it. There are two kinds of input methods: a phonetic transliteration method that lets you type in Bangla words in English(Roman) letters and produces bangla characters on the fly. For this intuitive method (for example, 'ka' transliterates to ক ), you need to refer to a chart provided by MS to resolve any misunderstanding. The other kind of input method uses a specific keyboard layout. For this less intuitive method, you need to memorize which English key corresponds to which Bangla letter).
- Once you write something in a MS Word document using the IME mentioned above, you can copy and paste your content into the edit window for the page here in wikipedia you want to create/edit. If you are using IE 6 or better, you might even be able to input directly in the edit window.
- Now on to your other question: How can one create a new article? Please go to this page to do that.

You can use other Bangla Software's as well to write in Bangla unicode. Akkhor can be a good resource as it supports Bangla Keyboard, Phonetic Transliteration, Dictionary etc. You can download Akkhor from www.akkhorbangla.com

আমার মনে হচ্ছে নতুন ব্যবহারকারীদের জন্য এই সফটওয়্যারটি একটি আকর্ষণীয় হাতিয়ার হতে পারে । এটি হচ্ছে “শাব্দিক“ । টেস্ট ভার্সন ডাউনলোড করে আপনি এখনি কাজ করতে পারবেন এখান থেকে www.iecbd.net । সম্পূর্ণ ইউনিকোড ভিত্তিক হওয়াতে খুব সহজেই নতুন লেখকদের এটি হেল্প করতে পারে । এর জন্যে কিবোর্ড মুখস্ত রাখারও দরকার নাই । শুধু ইংরেজি কিবোর্ড জানা থাকলেই এটাতে টাইপ করা যায় এবং ডিকশনারি থেকে অপরাপর শব্দগুলো নিয়ে আসে বলে সন্দেহজনক শব্দমালা নিয়েও আর সমস্যা থাকে না ।

[সম্পাদনা] উইকিপিডিয়ায় যারা লিখছেন এবং লিখতে আগ্রহী ...
বার বার মনে করিয়ে দেয়া সত্বেও ব্যবহারকারীরা এটা বুঝতে চান না যে স্বত্বসংরক্ষিত লেখা উইকিপিডিয়ায় থাকা উচিত্ না। সেসব লেখাই কেবল থাকা উচিত্ যেটা ব্যবহারকারী নিজে লিখেছেন। অন্যান্য সোর্স থেকে তিনি অবশ্যই সাহায্য নিতে পারেন (যথার্থ রেফারেন্স ব্যবহার করে) কিন্তু হুবহু অন্যত্র প্রকাশিত লেখা এখানে প্রকাশ করা থেকে বিরত থাকতে সবাইকে অনুরোধ করছি।
আরো কিছু বিষয়ের প্রতি খেয়াল রাখা প্রয়োজন:
১. লেখায় যেন আপনার আবেগ প্রকাশ না পায়।
২. ব্যক্তিগত মন্তব্য প্রদান করা থেকে বিরত থাকুন। অবজেক্টিভিটি বজায় রাখুন।
৩. জেনারেলাইজেশন পরিহার করুন।
৪. উইকিপিডিয়ায় গল্প, কবিতা, ছড়া ইত্যাদি লিখবেন না।
৫. নিরপেক্ষতা ও ভারসাম্য বজায় রাখুন। আপনি যে দলেইর হোন না কেন, দলাদলি পরিহার করুন।

নমস্কার নভুম্বর মাসে সুমন চট্টোপাধ্যআয় এবং বিজয়া মুখোপাধ্যআয়এর যে পৃষ্ঠা আরম্ভ হয়েছিল মাসখানেক ষলো সেগুলি সম্পাদনা করতে গিয়ে দেখছি যে সম্পূর্নভাবে নিশ্চি্হ্ণ হয়ে গেছে - ইতিহাস, আলোচনা, সব। এরকম instability কিন্তু আমাদের নবজাত প্রচেষ্টার পক্ষে খুবই ক্ষতিকারক।
Re: user Hiwamy's points on Bangla Unicode fonts - there are nice looking fonts - e.g. Sagar - but these have some incompletenesses, e.g. the glyph ত্ত, in fact possibly all ত্ conjoints, are not implemented in Sagar yet. UNICODE itself has some small lacunae... But let us rejoice that at least we have a standard!! We can now sort and cut and paste and have filenames in Bangla. As usage grows, so will the fonts. But if you wish you can configure your web browser to use Sagar as default. For me the bigger problem is that the fonts appear much smaller and far less legible than the corresponding English fonts; this I don't know how to set up for.

Hi Friends, Shubha Nababarsho to all! I feel really good to have some people around to help out. Deepayan, you are right. As a starting point it would be useful to start with a framework that would be more attractive to Bengali speaking users. But before that I was trying to translate the interface. This is yet half done, if anyone have technical expertise in php, please help out. It would also be better for us to have a discussion group.

- You don't need to know any PHP to translate the interface anymore. This can be done with the m:MediaWiki namespace by anyone who is an administrator. I do have a solution for correctly displaying bangla text in IE. But I am not sure how to implement it in wikipedia. I don't know who have started bn.wikipedia.org but surely they didn't do proper reseach on how to display bangla text correctly.

I think it's you who hasn't done adequate research :-) Whatever solution you might have "for IE", I'm pretty sure that's not a proper web standard and is not supported on other browsers and/or operating systems. Unicode and opentype are the only universally recognized standards that are capable of handling bengali, and hence unicode is the only encoding that makes sense here.
You can use any typeface you want as long as it's unicode and opentype compatible. Boishakhi is not, and if you want it to be, you should ask the Boishakhi developers.

- I have been using UNICODE for long and I still stand by my line. We didn't do proper research on how to display Bangla text on screen with required crispness and hinting. None of the Bangla UNICODE fonts are screen friendly. I understand that it stems from the fact that we, UNICODErs, are not concerned about "how it looks". We are more concerned about technical aspects of UNICODE and advocate its use when there is little to offer. I don't do the programming, I don't design fonts. I think advocates of UNICODE should come up and make life easier for us with better programs and fonts, because, as they talk, they sound like programmers. I have nothing against UNICODE but I think our focus of attention should be on better fonts and typeface. স্টাব/আর্টিকল সমস্যা কিন্তু বাড়ছেই। আমার মনে হয় কন্ট্রিবিউটরদের নতুন আর্টিকল খুঁজে পাবার সবচেয়ে সহজ উপায় হল সাম্প্রতিক পরিবর্তন, কিন্তু এতে করে পুরনোগুলো চোখের আড়াল হয়ে যাচ্ছে।
দু'টো জিনিস দরকার - অনেক কন্ট্রিবিউটর (যেটার ব্যাপারে আসলে অপেক্ষা ছাড়া কিছু করার নেই) আর টপিকগুলো যেন সহজে রীচ করা যায়। ইন্সট্রাকশন দেন, প্রধান পাতা/পোর্টাল গুলো এমন ভাবে সাজাই যেন সহজে অনেক গুলো রিলেটেড আর্টিকল পাওয়া যায়।

Okay, this looks like a blatant attempt to promote অক্ষর বাংলা. There are at least 2 other Free softwares available on the web. I propose that this line should be removed. Anyone against this proposal?

[সম্পাদনা] Requesting help in designing a barnstar
- All Indian Languages using wikipedians,
- Further promotion of Indic language wikipedias needs mass media publicity like Print,Radio,telvision , aproaching in academic Institutions.
- Also if possible a level of field support from network engineers in India for presentation and training in usage of Indian Languages and wikipedia can be a added boon.
- May I call on all indic language wikipedia users,to put our hands together to design special barnstars or suggest one which can be awarded to all those who will support our noble cause with actual field support among Indian education institutions and Indian mass media or actual field 'network'help to users.
- I belive we should award barnstars to such users who can support the cause through online publicity like blogs , groups etc. also.
