KLHI-FM
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
KLHI-FM, "The Point 101.1," is a Modern rock station that is based in Lahaina, Hawaii, on the coast of Maui, even though they will move to Honolulu. The Pacific Radio Group outlet broadcasts at 101.1 MHz with a ERP of 70 kW.
[edit] History
KLHI signed on in 1989 with a Adult Contemporary format, but by 1996 it shifted to Modern AC and would later evolve to Modern Rock full time.
In 2005 The FCC gave the station the green light to move the station and its city of license to Honolulu. They are expected to move sometime in 2006 or 2007.
[edit] A Second Station
Another radio station airs on the same frequency called "Energy 101.1" (KXRG-LP). It airs nonstop dance music at around 2pm to 2am from Ala Moana to Pearlridge. Energy 101.1's frequency cannot be heard from the windward areas such as Kaneohe and Kailua. When and if KLHI officially moves into Honolulu KXRG will have to move to another frequency because of its status as a low-power station.
