Miniclip is a games, entertainment and virtual community website, "Miniclip.com". The Miniclip.com site offers browser-based games, cartoons and Ecards. The site was first launched in 2000. A majority of the games are free to play online. Some are massive multplayer games with virtual communities which also have premium subscriptions available. It is the world's largest online games website, with 34 million unique users per month - source, Google Analytics, December, 2006. It is also the largest privately held website on the Internet. Its popularity originally arose from a game called Dancing Bush. Most games are authored in Macromedia Flash or Shockwave. A few are written in Java. Miniclip offers content in English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Italian, Korean and Chinese.

Miniclip offers many types of a variety of games, cartoons and Ecards. Single player online games which can easily be played in a browser in which users can post their high scores with daily, weekly and monthly rankings.
Users can play Multiplayer games directly in a browser. They can play with and against millions of users in a variety of games such as fantasy, adventure, educational and sports. Users can play these multiplayer games for free and in some they can upgrade to premium levels by paying subscription fees.
There are free downloadable games and ones for sale in the store.
Miniclip offers a free games room with auto-updating games for users to add to their blogs or websites for free. Users can add free game icons to their blogs and websites. Users can add free games to their sites as well.

[edit] Hostile code in older version of Miniclip game loader
Several security firms reported in 2005 that some Miniclip users had installed a DLL "miniclipgameloader.dll" which contains the hostile code identified as "Trojan DownLoader 3069".[3][4] Removal tools are available. Reports in 2006 from the same security vendors show the same file as not containing hostile code.[5][6] In 2006, the security firm Sunbelt Software reported that Miniclip installed "high risk" malware called "Trojan-Downloader.CR64Loader".[7]
On September 1, 2006, the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team issued an advisory concerning Miniclip.[8]. "The Retro64 / Miniclip CR64Loader ActiveX control contains a buffer overflow vulnerability. This may allow a remote, unauthenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code on a vulnerable system. ... Although the ActiveX control is no longer in use by either retro64.com or miniclip.com, any system that has used certain pages of these web sites in the past may be vulnerable." None of these reports showed any hostile activity.

Miniclip is regularly updated, usually around once or twice a week. All new games are added to the Miniclip Toolbar, which can be downloaded for free from the website.

Alongside the games shown on the site, Miniclip also has a message board with designated forums for most of the games, and general discussion forums for topics such as sports, movies, jokes,Art,Music and the recently added Debates forum. Administrators are normally employees of the Miniclip company.
