The Simpsons (season 2)

The Simpsons' second season originally aired between October 1990 and July 1991, beginning on October 11, 1990. This season saw the show switch timeslots from Sunday night at 8:00pm to Thursday night at 8:00pm. It would remain at this timeslot until season 6. The complete season was released on DVD on August 6, 2002. [1]
The season saw the introduction of several new characters, who would go on to become main characters. These included Dr. Hibbert,[2] Troy McClure,[3] Kang & Kodos,[4] Lionel Hutz,[5] Dr. Nick Riviera[5] and Groundskeeper Willie[6]. Others included Maude Flanders, Mayor Quimby, Snake Jailbird, Squeaky Voiced Teen, Miss Hoover, Akira, Sideshow Mel, Artie Ziff, Hans Moleman and Comic Book Guy.
Many different guest stars featured, including Dustin Hoffman (Sam Etic), Danny DeVito, Ringo Starr, Audrey Meadows, Cloris Leachman, Jon Lovitz, Alex Rocco, George Takei, Larry King, James Earl Jones, Harvey Fierstein, Tracey Ullman and Tony Bennett (who was the first person to appear in the show as himself).[7]
The episode "Homer vs. Lisa and the 8th Commandment" won an Emmy in 1991 for "Outstanding Animated Program (For Programming less than One Hour)" and received a nomination for "Outstanding Sound Mixing", which it ultimately lost. [8]

A parody of a classic Twilight Zone. The Raven – Lisa tells Edgar Allan Poe's classic poem, but scares no-one but Homer.
