The Simpsons' ninth season originally aired between September 1997 and May 1998, beginning on Sunday, September 21, 1997 with "The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson". The season contains three hold-over episodes from the season 8 (4F) production line and two episodes from the (3G) production line. The Simpsons 9th Season DVD was released on December 19, 2006 in the US, January 29, 2007 in the UK and March 21, 2007 in Australia. The theme for the season 9 DVD set is a jazz club, and Lisa'a saxophone, definitely inspired by the episode, Lisa's Sax. The head-box version of the DVD is shaped to look like Lisa's head.
