Articles should use Template:Infobox MO Route, and all known info should be supplied. See the Infobox section on applicable flags as well as standards for the routebox.

Untitled section that describes the route. It might be helpful for formatting to use {{TOCleft}} at the top of this section to display the table of contents on the top left, followed by the main description of the route. Depending on the route this section may just name the direction (E/W or N/S) and termination points, or may go into considerable detail. However, the majority of detail, such as progress by town or county, should be reserved for the next section.

This section is for describing the route itself and its progression across Missouri. Regardless of the route's length, progression should be described from south to north, west to east, to correspond to WP:USRD standards.

[edit] Communities along the route

List of communities, which can range from small hamlets to large cities, along the route. Depending on the length of the route this may include only major communities, or just the few hamlets the route passes through.

The contents of this section may vary by route. Refer to the table below for the appropriate section header and further instructions.

Any historical information known about the route should be noted.

Any trivia or facts about a route (any interesting information that doesn't belong in the History section) should be placed in this section.

All state highways should include the category tag: [[Category:Missouri state highways|nnnA]] where nnn is 3-digit route number, and A is the letter designation if any (e.g. Route 1A is "001A", Route 2 is "002").

The Infobox to use for these routes is the Template:Infobox MO Route template, unless it is an Interstate, which uses Template:Infobox Interstate/Intrastate.

This is the basic syntax you need to get a complete routebox on the article page, just place this before any other text and fill in the variables.

Here is a list of variables that you need to fill in:

• type: either "MO" (Missouri routes) or "Supp" (SSRs), no quotes
• sign_image: DO NOT USE, only for routeboxes that haven't been converted to the new system yet
• article_route: The route number (example "5" without quotes)
• alternate_name: Another name the route is referred to for its entire length
• name_notes: Any miscellanea about a particular route
• established: The year when the route was signed and commissioned into service
• decommissioned: The year when the route was decommissioned (do not use when the route is active)
• length_mi: How long the route is
• length_round: Only use if there are one or more decimal places in the mileage (if there are two decimal places, specify 2)
• length_ref: A citation of where the length comes from (with <ref></ref> tags
• length_notes: Any miscellanea about the length
• map: A map, if available, without wiki markup
• direction_a: West or South in accordance with WP:USRD/INNA
• terminus_a: The western or southern terminus of the route
• junctions: A <br> delimited list of major junctions along the route (limit 10)
• direction_b: East or North in accordance with WP:USRD/INNA
• terminus_b: The eastern or northern terminus of the route
• counties: A comma-delimited list of the counties the route passes through
• cities: A comma-delimited list of the cities/towns the route passes through
• previous_type: The type of route that comes before the current one (MO, US, Interstate)
• previous_route: The route number that comes before the current one (3 is before 5)
• next_type: The type of route that comes after the current one (MO, US, Interstate)
• next_route: The route number that comes after the current one (6 is after 5)
• browse: Additional browse lines
• commons: use to add a link to an image gallery or category on Wikimedia Commons, usage should be gallery, category, or left blank/omitted.

Important notes regarding the routebox: For the previous and next route types, remember to list them in order of priority. The precedence is as follows: U.S. Interstate, U.S. Route, Missouri State Highways.

Any tags that do not apply to a particular route can either be omitted or left blank.

By completing the infobox as follows, you'll get a routebox like the one above.

The junction table, to be located in "Major intersections", is for listing all of the intersections, both actual junctions and over/underpasses, that this route has with state routes, U.S. routes, Interstates and, optionally, county routes.
