Charles R. "Chuck" Gipp is the Iowa State Representative from the 16th District. He has served in the Iowa House of Representatives since 1990 and was the majority leader in the Iowa House from 2003-2007, when the Democrats recaptured the legislature in the 2006 elections. He received his BA from Luther College.
Gipp currently serves on several committees in the Iowa House - the State Government committee and the Transportation committee. He also serves on the Transportation, Infrastructure, and Capitals Appropriations Subcommittee. His prior political experience includes serving as chair of the Winneshiek County Republicans from 1980-1990, chair of the Winneshiek County Solid Waste Commission from 1981-1990, assistant majority leader of the Iowa House from 1993-1994, and majority whip of the Iowa House from 1995-1996.
Gipp was re-elected in 2006 with 5,782 votes, defeating Democratic opponent Thomas Hansen. [1]
