Mark D. Smith is the Iowa State Representative from the 43rd District. He has served in the Iowa House of Representatives since 2001. He received his BS from Graceland College and his MS from the University of Iowa
Smith currently serves on several committees in the Iowa House - the Environmental Protection committee; the Judiciary committee; and the Human Resources committee, where he is chair. He also serves on the Health and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee. His prior political experience includes serving on the Osceola City Council from 1981-1983.
Smith was re-elected in 2006 with 7,097 votes, running unopposed. [1]
