[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Cyprus_kykkos_monastery.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Cyprus_kykkos_monastery.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] deleted images
The problem is that the images were uploaded for "non-commercial use only" or "used with permission" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19. This means they are not free enough to be used on wikipedia. If you own the copyright on the images there are a number of alturnative lisences you could upload them under which would not get them deleted.Geni 18:52, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Kykkos Monestary
You did a great job writing about the Kykkos Monestary. I started it but you have really made it informal. Felixboy 17:31, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Adopt message
Hello, Jhabib! I see that you have expressed an interest in being adopted by an experienced editor. I accept your request, being an experienced editor myself. Whether you want to learn about wiki markup, find something to do, or just talk to somebody, I'm the one you can talk to - just leave a message on my talk page. Good luck with Wikipedia! --The Great Llama (now on editor review!) 23:39, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- You've done a good job on your contribs, especially with the articles you created. Some suggestions, though:
-
- For the headers, type ==(header)==, instead of =(header)=. That format should not be used very often (one of the exceptions being on the help desk), as it makes the text the same size as the article name, which can be confusing.
- Also, try using the neutral point of view. In other words, try to avoid using words like "we", "unfortunately", "ironically", etc.
- Lastly, would you please explain what you meant by "content list" on my talk page?
- I will help with the headers and NPOV. Other than those points (these mistakes are expected by new users), you've been doing a very good job. --The Great Llama (now on editor review!) 14:35, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, that's automatically created when there are four or more headers on a page. --The Great Llama (now on editor review!) 15:24, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
There are a lot of ways to contribute to Wikipedia other than editing articles, some of those being suggesting changes to articles via talk pages, articles for deletion, requests for adminship, vandalfighting, and creating pages in other namespaces (such as portals or a userpage). Of course, you don't have do just start doing all these things at the same time; I suggest you create a userpage and continue editing articles for a little while, then start vandalfighting, and when you have a month or two more experience, AfD and RfA. After that, you'll have a lot of experience and maybe participate in WikiProjects, or creating a portal.
I noticed that you didn't get a welcome yet, so here you go!

- There used to be a list of userboxes at Wikipedia:List of userboxes, but that's disabled now. I don't think there's another list anywhere. I'll get back to you about the other questions--The Great Llama (now on editor review!) 17:46, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay. As for the vandalfighting, I suggest putting popups in your monobook (which I notice you already did) and do some recent changes patrolling using the popups. To patroll, click "recent changes" in the "navigation" bar on the left side of the screen (or just click Special:Recentchanges), hiding logged-in users, and clicking the diffs until you find a vandalized article. When you do, hover your cursor over it, then click "rv" on the popup. This will revert the changes. Afterwards, check the page history, find the vandal, and leave a message saying
{{subst:test-n|vandalized article}} --~~~~
. If there is already a warning on their talk page, use{{test2-n|article}}
, if there are two, use{{test3-n|article}}
, etc. If there are four warnings, however, follow the instructions atAIV to report the user, and the user will probably be blocked. This may seem confusing, so feel free to ask me any questions you have. Would you specify to me what you mean by "flagging" pages, though? --The Great Llama (now on editor review!) 20:03, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Vandal
Yes, that's vandalism, since the author keeps removing the db tags. Feel free to revert it. Assuming you're using popups, clicking "rv" will automatically leave an edit summary, but you'll have to warn the user (Salmonish) with {{test}}. --The Great Llama (now on editor review!) 21:46, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- Oops, you seem to have gotten a little confused! Warnings should go on the vandal's user talk page, not the talk page for the article itself. The correct link is User talk:Salmonish. This is a perfectly understandable mistake. Also, something I neglected to mention: put {{subst:test}} on the user talk page, not just {{test}}. This, instead of keeping the {{test}} on the editing page, makes it so that the "Thank you for experimenting..." goes on the editing screen. --The Great Llama (now on editor review!) 22:01, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- Just keep reverting it and warning them. If they blank their own talk page, however, revert and put {{subst:blankown}} on their page. --The Great Llama (now on editor review!) 22:09, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- The article was actually created and deleted three times, deleted by Pgk, Vary, and Petros471. Putting the db tag will usually get an admin's attention within a few minutes. --The Great Llama (now on editor review!) 22:30, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- Well, there's really no way to be 100% sure if an edit is vandalism, but it's usually relatively obvious. I've made about five mistakes in reverting myself. --The Great Llama (now on editor review!) 22:57, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- No, the article doen't seem that suspicious. As for St Nicholas Cathedral Of Cyprus, I removed the NPOV tag, as it has been fixed. --The Great Llama (now on editor review!) 23:14, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Help Vandal
Would you please rephrase that? Specifically, what do you mean by "Not putting any message on the first page"? --The Great Llama (now on editor review!) 21:37, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Maths article edit
Sorry about edit. Didn't see that the entire thing was completely vandalised until I compared past versions. Cheers for the tips :)

[edit] St Nicholas Cathedral Of Cyprus
That's a good start on the article - I'll have a look at improving it if that's ok with you? --Mcginnly | Natter 14:07, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- I found this site [1] that looks like the source for your article - it's important in wikipedia that we don't infringe anyones copyright - so cutting and pasting isn't really done - the article needs to be thoroughly reworded - no problem, I'm nearly there. By the way, you might be interested in joining the Architecture wikiproject there's a load of like minded people over there trying to improve architecture articles - and photographers and editors are always welcome. Take care. --Mcginnly | Natter 01:06, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] VandalSniper
Thanks for applying to use VandalSniper. Unfortunately, I have the burden of telling you "sorry, not quite yet". You haven't been added to the approved users list yet because we would like to wait and see more edits from you first (but you are more than welcome to continue asking questions about the tool on the talk page, and I will try to help you get it working if I can). Although the requirements to use VS are not set in stone, VandalSniper is a fast, fully-featured reversion tool with the potential for a sizable amount of edits in a short period of time, so this decision must sometimes be meticulous; I hope you understand. Your interest in VS is greatly appreciated, and you are invited to apply after you've made a few more edits. The reason you have not been approved yet says nothing about your value as a contributor – only that we'd like to see a little more of your work on Wikipedia before giving access to the tool.
Again, thanks so much for your interest. If you have any questions or concerns about this decision, feel free to contact me and I will be more than happy to discuss it with you. Again, thank you for helping "keep Wikipedia clean". Good luck, and happy editing! -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 17:32, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
