Hipgnosis

Die britische Designer-Firma Hipgnosis wurde 1968 von Storm Thorgerson (* 1944 in Potters Bar) und Aubrey Powell, genannt Po, gegründet. Zunächst erstellte man Cover für Pink Floyd und andere Künstler, die bei dem Plattenlabel Harvest unter Vertrag waren. Sitz der Firma war in der Demark Street in London.
Zu den Beschäftigten zählte ab 1974 auch der Fotograf Peter Christopherson, der später als Musiker bei Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV und insbesondere Coil bekannt werden sollte. 1983 verließ Storm Thorgerson die Firma, um als eigenständiger Künstler weiterzuarbeiten. Die Firma Hipgnosis ging im Jahre 1985 pleite. Storm Thorgerson lebt heute in Nord London zusammen mit seiner Frau und seinen zwei Kindern.
