Armenian Genocide
From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Armenian Genocide was the massacres and deportation of Ottoman Armenians during 1915 - 1917. The use of the word genocide is controversial (people argue about it) because the government of Turkey says that the deaths happened because of war between the Armenians and Ottoman Turks during World War I. The Armenians and most scholars who say that the genocide did happen say that 1.5 million Armenians were killed by the Ottoman government. Some Turkish scholars also say that this is what happened.
