California's 12th congressional district

California's 12th congressional district is one of 53 California Congressional Districts. The current Representative for this district is Democrat Tom Lantos.
The 12th district spans from the Sunset District of San Francisco in the north down to San Mateo in the south, and from Moss Beach in the west to the edge of San Mateo in the east, where it borders California's 14th. The 12th is comprised of portions of San Mateo and San Francisco counties. George W. Bush received 27% of the vote in this district in 2004. The district has a Cook Partisan Voting Index score of D +22.
The majority of San Francisco, however, is located within California's 8th district, currently represented by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

- Richard Nixon represented the 12th district from 1947-51, although at that time the district number referred to a district in Southern California.
