California's 8th congressional district
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The 8th congressional district of California covers most of the City and County of San Francisco except for a corner in the southwest -- the Sunset District and St. Francis Wood -- that is part of the 12th District.
The 8th district is one of the most reliably Democratic districts in the country, though left-wing third parties like the Green Party often poll well in the district. It is the smallest congressional district in the nation outside of New York City. George W. Bush received a mere 14% of the vote in this district in 2004. The district has a Cook Partisan Voting Index score of D +36.
