California's 47th congressional district

California's 47th congressional district covers the cities of Anaheim, Garden Grove, Santa Ana and some of Fullerton in Orange County. It is one of 53 California Congressional Districts. George W. Bush received 50% of the vote in this district in 2004. The district has a Cook Partisan Voting Index score of D +5.
Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, a Democrat, is the current representative of the 47th District and has served since 1996.

In the television program The West Wing, Sam Seaborn runs for election in the California 47th District in a special election following the victory of the deceased Democratic candidate Horton Wilde. The district in the show was portrayed as nearly impossible for a Democrat to carry.
