Brief Summary: A new soft drink called Kelp Shakes causes Plankton and Mr. Krabs to worry about their restaurants. So they both work together to find out the secret of the soft drink by sneaking in the restaurants and even buying the Kelp Shakes.

The episode start as a normal day at the Krusty Krab. Mr. Krabs goes to talk to Squidward when he sees everyone is drinking a shake, including SpongeBob. He tells Mr. Krabs about the drink called the "Kelpshake." So Mr. Krabs starts worrying about his restaurant and goes to see what mood Plankton is in. He doesn't know what is going on because he was sunbathing. Then the two start worrying and they notice Kelp statements are everywhere so they both try to steal a Kelp Shake and discover what it is made of. They go to a Kelp shop and they form a queue. Mr. Krabs pretends to cough and throws Plankton to the kitchen but he crashes on a door. That night they both try to enter but an alarm wakes up a guard worm who attacks them. The next day the both of them buy a Kelp Shake and go to the Chum Bucket to analyse what is made of. Karen starts analysing, but Plankton gets impatient and interrupts the progress of the analyser. That midday SpongeBob appears covered by light green kelp. Then all Kelp restaurants are closed because of being unhealthy. 2 Decontaminants revealed that it will take decades to get rid of the unhealthy toxic waste and they're sorry for whoever drank this. Then Mr. Krabs and Plankton gets light green hairy kelp all over their bodies. So Mr. Krabs gives Plankton a Krabby Patty and then actually chases him out of boredom.

Jill Talley's name at the end of the credits is spelled as Jill Taliey.
There were three Kelp Shakes next to the Krusty Krab, two on the left and one on the right, but when Spongebob was talking to Mr. Krabs and Plankton, two of Kelp Shakes on the left were gone.
Kelp Shakes have actually appeared in the series before, the Krusty Krab once had them on stock.
This episode will be aired Thusday 29 March 2007 in Latin America.
Eleventh time Plankton tried to steal the formula (in the series).
Kelp Shakes cause the drinker to become hairy and have light green kelp all over their body. So the Kelp Shakes are made of Kelp Juice.

The title is a Portmanteau of "Best Friends" and "Enemies"
"Kelpshakes" parody alcoholic drinks. They taste bitter at first, but then get really addictive. When Mr. Krabs and Plankton drink more and more of the kelp shake, they get more and more addicted to it and have to have more.
The German Title, in English, means "Best Friend Enemy".

This is the third time Mr. Krabs has been seen in the Chum Bucket. The first was in Enemy In-Law, the second was in New Leaf.
This is the first time Mr. Krabs has interacted with Karen.
The Kelp Shake buildings divide like bacteria and seem 'contagious'.
The expression 'frenemies' is inspired by Elizabeth Everitt's term of her crush Bailey Valint and her acquaintance Shane Griffin. She is a friend of the creator's daughter.
This is the second episode that Mr.Krabs and Plankton becomes friends. First time was New Leaf
Plankton's first plan in this episode was parioding The Witch and the Class of 3000 quote "Ow my Eye!"
At the end it parodies the Class of 3000 episode "Am I Blue?"
This episode was originally going to be called "Kelpshakes".
