"I Had an Accident" is a SpongeBob SquarePants episode from season three.
Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.
Brief summary: While sandboarding, SpongeBob gets a serious injury to his bottom, and the doctor warns him that another injury like that and he may have to have an iron butt.

[edit] Plot
While sandboarding, SpongeBob crashes into the ground butt-first, and Sandy takes him to the hospital. The doctorfish says that it took 20 hours to staple, tape, and glue it back together. He also says that if he gets another similar injury, he'll have to have an iron butt, which is a huge mechanical machine on wheels connected to where the butt used to be. SpongeBob is on 'around-the-clock butt patrol', and decides to stay home forever with his three friends, 'Chip', 'Penny' and 'Used Napkin'. Sandy and Patrick try and persuade to get SpongeBob to go outside, but he only goes out when a gorilla attacks Sandy and Patrick. The episode ends when SpongeBob realizes how a gorilla can't exist underwater, and the gorilla runs away with his horse (a zebra). Then, a family of people who were watching the episode on television struggle to understand what happened.

- An alternate name for this episode is "Safety Freak Spongebob".
- The gorilla seen in this episode is Frank Welker in a gorilla suit (see the skin under the eyes) and the zebra is Dee Bradley Baker in a zebra suit.
- This episode has a unique ending in that at the end, it pans out to reveal that the episode was being watched by a family. They all stare in confusion. The mother and father look at each other and the father gives a look of disapproval and shuts off the TV. This is one SpongeBob SquarePants episode that breaks the 4th wall.
- In the beginning, Patrick was playing a game where you have to slide and stay from obstacles on Sand Mountain. Patrick crashed in the game. Coinncedentally, that's exactly what Patrick did when he gave up due to it being hard.
- A caption had an accident, as the episode's title suggests. Patrick and Sandy were singing "Three cheers for your birthday, SpongeBob!", but captions exclude Spongebob's name ("Three cheers for your birthday!").
- This is one of the only (if not the only) times Sandy is jellyfishing.
- "Penny" could not talk or move, yet in Imitation Krabs and Squid's Day Off, coins moved (in Imitation Krabs, the penny gasped; in Squid's Day Off, a nickel winked).
- Near the middle of the episode, SpongeBob started talking before his mouth moved.
- The giant gorilla says "George, they're on to us!" But in the UK on some other channels it airs on captions say "George! The Wonder Horse!"

One more injury like that, and you could wind up like that poor creature there with...the iron butt.
- Tom: (Has a huge iron contraption attached to his rear and the ground, presumably he can't walk) Aw, man. It itches!
- SpongeBob: I am never leaving my house again!
