ランガラ・カレッジ（英語名：Langara College）は、カナダ・ブリティッシュコロンビア州・バンクーバーにある、二年制の公立短期大学である。

- 1965年 - 最初の授業がKing Edward CentreにてVancouver City College（現：Vancouver Community College）の一部として行われる。
- 1970年 - 現在の所在地である100 West 49th Avenueに移転。
- 1994年4月1日 - Juan de Lángaraの名前を取り、ランガラ・カレッジの名称で独立。

University Transferの生徒の多くはここランガラ・カレッジにていくつかの単位を取得し、ブリティッシュコロンビア大学 （UBC）、サイモンフレーザー大学 （SFU）、ビクトリア大学 （UVic）への進学を目指すのが一般的である。
なお、ランガラのESLクラス（University Transfer受講に必要な英語力を得たい留学生および英語力の足りない移民の生徒が受講する）は、ステップ（STEP/Short Term English Proficiency）およびリープ（LEAP/Langara English for Academic Purposes）という名称であり、これらはContinuing Studiesの一部である。
[編集] 学部・学科
ランガラカレッジにおける学部および学科は以下の通りである。日本の大学のように一つの学部に対して入学する方式ではないため、University Transferであれば好きな教科を受講して構わない。ただし、看護学科や演劇学科のように、受講するのが難しいクラスもある。また、University Transfer （Arts & Science）とCareer Programのクラスは全て四文字の略称アルファベットとクラス独自の数字で表される。例えば英語（English）の1127というクラスは「ENGL1127」というように表される。
学部・学科名の日本語表記においては、日本語に翻訳できないものが多く、また日本とカナダで解釈の違いが生じる可能性もあるので、日本語として言葉が存在する物、もしくは平易に翻訳できる物のみ日本語表記を併記するものとする。

[編集] 生徒数
全生徒数は約23000人であり、そのうち約8000人がフルタイム生徒（うち約6000人がUniversity Transferに在籍）であり、10％に相当する約800人が50ヶ国以上の外国からの留学生（うち約600人がUniversity Transferに在籍）である。その他の約15000人はContinuing Studiesのクラスを受講している。

前述の通り独立は比較的新しいものの、Aビルディングは1970年当時から存在するため、古くなっている感は否めない。Bビルディングは比較的新しい。なお、AビルディングもBビルディングも廊下と部屋の構造および部屋番号の付け方が複雑で、多くの生徒には不評であり、慣れない人は迷うであろう。たとえばAビルディンのグA334号室の隣は何故かA339号室になっている。なお図書館の中にはライティング・センター（Writing Centre）があり、生徒であれば無料で、英語の書き方のレッスンを受けることができる。また、現在敷地西側に新たな図書館を建設中である。
学内のいたるところにコンピュータ・ラボがあり、生徒番号とパスワードでログインしてパソコンを使うことが出来る。

一年で三学期
- 春学期（Spring Semester/1月から4月）
- 夏学期（Summer Semester/5月から8月）
- 秋学期（Fall Semester/9月から12月）
の三つが開講される。またそれぞれの学期は西暦と10、20、30の数字を組み合わせた6桁の数字で表される。例えば2007年春学期は「200710」、2007年夏学期は「200720」、2007年秋学期は「200730」という具合である。
なお夏学期には開講される授業が少ないので注意を要する。

ランガラ・スチューデント・ユニオン（The Langara Students' Union/LSU）が独立した組合として存在し、スチューデント・ユニオン・ビルディング（Students' Union Building）の中にオフィスを構える。

Studio 58は演劇の学校であり、またランガラの演劇プログラムの一部である。2006年にはカナダで5本の指に入る演劇学校としてランク付けされている。入学も極めて困難である。
[編集] IEVP
インターナショナル・エデュケーション・ボランティア・プログラム（International Education Volunteer Program/IEVP）では、インターナショナル・エデュケーション・オフィス（International Education Office/IE Office）が留学生を二十名程度募り、学内及び学外ボランティア活動に従事する。学内においては、しばしば開かれるイベントの会場作り、新入生のキャンパス案内、新聞作りなどをする。学外においては、生徒がスポーツ、食事などのイベントを企画する。
ボランティアには各自、背中側に「International Education Volunteer Program」のロゴの入った農青のTシャツが支給され、キャンパス内にてしばしばその姿を見かけることがある。
[編集] 49th Avenue Press
学内には「49th Avenue Press」という出版社がある。主な出版物は『College Style Sheet』（Jon FurbergとRichard Hopkinsによる共著。なお'Sheet'とされているが、一冊の本である）であり、学生が論文を書く際の諸注意および形式、すなわちMLAスタイル、APAスタイル、ノートスタイルの三種類の形式の書き方が記されており、全ての学生に必須の本となっている。
同書の最新版は第六版 （ISBN 1-896661-06-8）であり、2005年に発行された。

学校の目の前にバス停（West 49th Avenue and Manitoba Street）があり、トランスリンクが運営する49番のバスが、UBC - ダンバー・ループ（Dunbar Loop） - Granville Street - ランガラ・カレッジ - メトロタウン駅を結んでいる。なお全ての便がUBCからメトロタウンの全区間を通るわけではなく、土曜・日曜・祝日の全便および平日の何便かはダンバー・ループもしくはGranville Streetを始点および終点とする。その場合、ランガラとUBCの間を行き来するには、ダンバー・ループにて49番と41番を乗り継ぐか、West 49th Avenue and Granville Streetにて49番と480番を乗り継ぐ必要がある。
