Cheese
From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cheese is a solid food made from milk. It can be soft or firm. It is made by removing water from milk. People may store cheese in a refrigerator, to make sure it does not go bad.
Cheese is rich in proteins and fats. It also contains vitamin A , calcium and phosphorus.
[edit] How it is Made
Cheese is usually made using milk. Cheese makers usually cook the milk in a large vat and add salt and a substance from the stomach of young cows called rennet, which curdles (makes solid) the cheese. Some makers do not add rennet and curdle it in other ways. Other ingredients are added and the cheese is usually aged for a short time.
